Entertainment finance expert David Hutkin has joined The Weinstein Company (TWC) to head the new Strategic Initiatives, Investments & Banking Group.
As executive vice-president of the Group Hutkin, who previously served as senior vice-president of the entertainment division at First California Bank, will oversee all strategic banking relationships including single-picture and slate financing, investor relations as well as off-balance-sheet film funds.
Beyond direct finance, he will also seek to mesh creative financing with the industry relationships he has forged over the years and that already exist at TWC.
Hutkin will be based in Los Angeles and will report to TWC co-chairmen Bob and Harvey Weinstein and COO David Glasser. Also at the new Group will be Vivian Tarn, associate vice-president of Strategic Initiatives, Investments and Banking, who has worked with Hutkin over the past seven years.
Hutkin spent the last 17 years in senior structured and corporate debt underwriting within the entertainment field at banking institutions including Bank Of America and The Lewis Horwitz Organization.
