David Shear of Revolver Entertainment has been promoted to the role of head of theatrical distribution. He was previously sales director at Revolver, where he has worked for the past two years.

Shear will oversee all of Revolver’s theatrical titles with a view to expanding this area of Revolver’s business further.

He said: “I’m relishing the challenge of cementing our place as the most forward-thinking and dynamic distributor in the UK.  With a fantastic slate of films currently in production, 2010 is gearing up to be our biggest year yet at the UK box office.”

Revolver founder Justin Marciano said Shear has a track record of delivering successful theatrical campaigns in “new and innovative ways”.

He added: “His longstanding relationships with UK exhibitors have enabled us to gain a firm foothold in UK theatrical distribution sector. At a time when other companies move back from theatrical distribution, we remain committed to the power of a film’s theatrical release.”
