Emma Watts has been named president of production for Twentieth Century Fox and signed a multi-year contract.

The 11-year Fox veteran assumes sole leadership of the production division after serving for the past two years with Alex Young as co-president of production. Young transitioned into a producer role for the studio in October.

“Emma has been here a decade and distinguished herself at every level along the way,” Fox Filmed Entertainment chairmen Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman, to whom Watts will continue to report, said.

“It is always especially gratifying when we can turn to the strength of our bench to promote the next generation of star executives and in the process reward outstanding achievement.”

Watts is currently overseeing Shawn Levy’s action-comedy Date Night starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell, family comedy Tooth Fairy with Dwayne Johnson, Oliver Stone’s Wall Street 2 starring Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan, and The A-Team with Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper.

She joined Fox as a creative executive in 1998 and began her career as a creative executive at Def Pictures before going on to work as director of development at Oliver Stone’s Illusion Entertainment.
