The executive joins Relativity Media as its first chief marketing officer having previously served as president of Dentsu Aegis Network.

Courtin will oversee branding and advertising and lead marketing initiatives for film, television and sports at the media company, which is expected to go public within 12-18 months according to recent remarks by CEO Ryan Kavanaugh.

She will oversee Madvine, the company’s branded entertainment and consumer products arm, as well as Relativity Digital.

The new hire will launch a digital division at the company that will work closely with Madvine to service all of a brand’s marketing needs. The division will partner with Relativity’s business units to develop, produce, and distribute original content.

Courtin will begin her new role in July and reports jointly to Kavanaugh and president Tucker Tooley.

“Relativity is a global content engine,” said Kavanaugh. “Now is the perfect time to bring on a chief marketing officer with Angela’s experience, insight, and relationships.”

“Relativity is an agile, legacy-free content company built for the digital world,” said Courtin. “We have a unique opportunity to leverage each division’s compelling, engaging content to reach global audiences in entirely new ways while also empowering brands to tell their stories like never before.”

Courtin’s career appointments include serving as co-head of integrated marketing at MTV and head of marketing, entertainment and content at MySpace.
