Avid continues support of Sundance Directors Lab

Avid Technology will continue to support the Sundance Institute’s annual June Directors Lab, now taking place in Utah.

The company has equipped the renowned Sundance program with editing software for more than 20 years. In 2012, the eight selected projects and program participants will use Avid Media Composer 6 software, Nitris DX hardware and Avid ISIS 5000 shared storage in the editing of film projects, chosen after an intensely competitive submission process.

The Sundance Directors Lab offers a select group of projects and directors the opportunity to work with an elite group of creative advisors, actors and crew to shoot key scenes from their screenplays. Notable films incubated in the Sundance Directors Lab have been Requiem for a Dream, Boys Don’t Cry and Maria Full of Grace.

Years ago, the program had one crew working on two Media Composer systems. Now Avid supplies seven Media Composer 6 systems and the newly added ISIS 5000 providing 32 TB of shared storage.

Kirk Arnold, Chief Operating Officer at Avid said, “We’re honoured to support Sundance Institute and its mission to discover, support and inspire independent film artists from around the world. We look forward to seeing how this year’s participants use our technology, and we’re proud to work with the Directors Lab to help these filmmakers succeed.”
