The streaming service saw a net rise in international members of 1.4m for the third quarter, executives said in an earnings call.

CEO Reed Hastings said there were plans to launch in new markets in 2014.

Meanwhile Netflix’s US customer base added 1.3m people during the quarter in an 11% gain that raised the number of members to 31m and overtook the 28.7m level of HBO subscribers.

Net income climbed 315% to $31.8m for the third quarter ending September 30. Revenue levels surged 22% to $1.1bn.

This quarter the company will launch an animation series with DreamWorks Animation. With the ongoing success of Orange Is The New Black, it emerged that the company planned to double its original content in 2014.
