Walt Disney Pictures to release the story of how Mary Poppins was brought to the big screen, starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson, in November.

Walt Disney Pictures has set the UK release date of Saving Mr Banks, the story of how Mary Poppins was bought to the big screen, as Nov 29.

Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks star in the film, which will be closing the 2013 London Film Festival with its European premiere on Oct 20.

Set in 1961, Hanks plays Walt Disney while Thompson plays Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers.

The film was directed by John Lee Hancock, produced by Alison Owen, Ian Collie and Philip Steuer, and written by Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith. Executive producers are Paul Trijbits, Andrew Mason, Troy Lum and Christine Langan.

It will receive its US premiere at AFI Fest on Nov 7.
