Characters from the box office smash coming back to life for follow-up animation.

The team behind Disney’s box office hit Frozen are to reunite for the production of a new animated short, set to debut spring 2015.

Frozen Fever will centre on Anna’s birthday and will see her ice queen sister Elsa and friend Kristoff determined to give her an unforgettable celebration. But Elsa’s icy powers end up putting more than just the party at risk.

The short, announced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, will also feature the heartwarming snowman Olaf.

Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, and produced by Peter Del Vecho, with an all-new original song by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Frozen Fever marks the first project to reunite the Oscar-winning original team from Disney’s Frozen.

The film won the Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film earlier this year and has made more than $1.27bn at the box office worldwide.
