ABC-Cinemien has picked up distribution rights for Benelux on a number of EFM titles including Ole Giaever’s Norwegian feature debut The Mountain, which screened in the Panorama section, from Bavaria Film International.

The Amsterdam and Antwerp based distributor also acquired rights to another Panorama title, Gustavo Taretto’s Argentinian drama Medianeras from The Match Factory and David Gelb’s food themed documentary Jiro Dreams Of Sushi which screened in Berlin’s Culinary section, from Fortissimo Films.

Another pick up was for Maryam Keshavarz’s family drama Circumstance from Funny Balloons. The US/Lebanon/Iran coproduction won the Audience Award in Sundance this year.

Other acquisitions include Sebastian Silva and Pedro Peirano’s Chilean drama Old Cats from Elephant Eye Films, Roschdy Zem’s Oma M’a Tuer from Elle Driver and UK director Barnaby Southcombe’s directorial debut I, Anna, which is currently shooting in London with Charlotte Rampling and Gabriel Byrne. It is being sold by Bavaria Film International.

ABC Cinemien will also release Michele Placido’s Vallanzasca, and Fabienne Berthaud’s French film about two sisters, Lily Sometimes, starring Ludivine Seigner and Diane Kruger.

Other previously announced deals include Miranda July’s quirky Berlin competition film The Future which ABC Cinemien picked up from The Match Factory and Gianni di Gregorio’s second feature The Salt Of Life, which it picked up from Fandango Portobello.

The Benelux distributor previously released both July and di Gregorio’s debut features Me And You And Everyone Else We Know and Mid August Lunch.
