Cameron Crowe’s doc is released to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the band’s formation

Cameron Crowe’s (Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous) Pearl Jam documentary will get a US release in September through Richard Abramowitz’s Abramorama.

Arts Alliance Media is handling the international release.

The film has been culled from 1,200 hours of rarely seen footage, 24 hours of recent interviews, as well as live footage of the grunge-rock band’s concerts.

“When I set out to make this film, my mission was to assemble the best-of-the best from Pearl Jam’s past and present audiences a visceral feeling of what it is to love music and to feel it deeply—to be inside the journey of a band that has carved their own path,” said Crowe.

The writer/director was among the band’s inner circle when they formed and has maintained a close friendship with its members since his days as a reporter for Rolling Stone magazine
