An intriguing three-way battle unfolds this weekend as an unprecedented 3D crush sees current overseas champion Alice In Wonderland take on newcomer Clash Of The Titans and How To Train Your Dragon.

Alice has grossed an excellent $388m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International (WDSMPI) and while it will cross $400m this weekend it may not end the weekend on top.

That’s because Warner Bros Pictures International unleashes its fantasy epic Clash Of The Titans day-and-date with North America in 15 markets this weekend on approximately 4,200 total screens, of which roughly 1,250 are 3D.

Leading the surge will be the UK, Australia, Spain, and South Korea. Clash Of The Titans also arrives in a number of South Asian markets.

Avatar’s Sam Worthington stars alongside Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Jason Flemyng, Liam Neeson, and Ralph Fiennes.

Meanwhile PPI takes DreamWorks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon into a further 20 territories, among them the UK, France, French-speaking Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

It’s a big push for the family title that has already taken $59.6m since the first wave last weekend and Dragon will be a force to reckon with.

DreamWorks’ romantic comedy She’s Out Of My League ventures into Australia, New Zealand and Russia, and The Lovely Bones arrives in Sweden.

Universal/UPI’s family sequel Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang is active this weekend in nine new territories including Australia, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Austria, New Zealand, Switzerland, and German-speaking Switzerland.

However Universal’s biggest splash is likely to come from Kick-Ass, which it opens in the UK over the Easter holiday weekend. Matthew Vaughn directed the superhero film, which has earned very strong reviews in the UK. Lionsgate handled the bulk of foreign sales and will release in North America on April 16. The Green Zone stands at $28m.

WDSMPI initiates the roll-out of the teen romance The Last Song starring Miley Cyrus concurrent with North America in Australia and New Zealand. The screenplay is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, whose books include The Notebook, Dear John, and Nights In Rodanthe.

Fox International’s Avatar stands at $1.952bn, and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief$134.2m. The Russian title Pop opens on April 4.

Sony Pictures Releasing International’s action comedy The Bounty Hunter has grossed more than $38.4m, Legion more than $40.2m, and Dear John more than $79.2m. The Book Of Eli has grossed more than $93.9m through all distributors.

Summit International’s romance Remeber Me starring Robert Pattinson arrives in the UK , Spain and the Netherlands and has grossed $11.2m so far.
