Artificial Eye picks up Holy Motors, Therese Desqueyroux

UK distributor Artificial Eye has completed a further four acquisitions in Cannes.

Artificial Eye has rounded off Cannes with four more acquisitions:

From TFI, Claude Miller’s Therese Desqueyroux starring Audrey Tautou. The adaptation of the novel by Francois Mauriac is the closing night film of the festival in honour of Miller who recently died.

From Wild Bunch, Leos Carax’s competition title Holy Motors starring Denis Lavant, Edith Scob, Eva Mendes and Kylie Minogue.

From Wild Bunch, Ye Lou’s Un Certain Regard thriller Mystery.

From Les Films Du Losange, Arnaud Des Pallieres’ Michael Kohlhaas starring Mads Mikkelsen and Bruno Ganz, which is currently in post production.

It marks the end of a busy Cannes for the UK distributor, which, buoyed by its recently announced film rights acquisition funding vehicle Curzon Film Rights 2 also took rights to Palme D’Or contenders Michael Haneke’s Amour and Cristian Mungiu’s Beyond The Hills – as well as Sally Potter’s untitled new project which is currently in post production.

CEO of Curzon Artificial Eye, Philip Knatchbull, said: “We are very pleased to be announcing these titles, which form part of an exciting slate for the coming year. With our second acquisition vehicle in place, Artificial Eye is in a fantastic position to continue acquiring and releasing the very best in independent cinema.”
