The India-set farce is produced by Oscar nominee Aamir Khan.

Artificial Eye has taken UK distribution rights to comedy Peepli Live from Aamir Khan Productions and UTV.

The film will be released in UK cinemas Sept 24.

Peepli Live tells the story of an impoverished farmer (Omkar Das Manikpuri) who wants to take advantage of government subsidies for suicide victims.

The India-set farce is produced by Oscar nominee Aamir Khan (Lagaan, Ghajini, 3 Idiots) and Kiran Rao and is written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Anusha Rizvi. Raghubir Yadav and Malaika Shenoy also star. Ronnie Screwvala co-produced.

In January, the film became the first Indian production to be shown in the World Cinema section of the Sundance Film Festival and it later screened at the Berlinale.
