Australian sales agent Odin’s Eye has sold North American rights for Australian thriller Crush to Phase 4 (formerly Peace Arch Home Entertainment).

Co-directed by John V Soto and Jeffrey Gerritsen from Soto’s script, Crush is dubbed a “supernatural Fatal Attraction”.

The story follows an American exchange student and disgraced Tae Kwon Do champion who is stalked by an obsessed girl with supernatural powers. The lead roles are played by Chris Egan (Eragon, Resident Evil 3), who will next be seen in Summit Entertainment’s Letters To Juliet, and Emma Lung (The Jammed).

Crush is unusual for Australia because it is aimed squarely at teens and young adults. It was also financed without the help of taxpayer funding and is one of the few films recently made in Western Australia. It was edited by Jason Ballantine (Wolf Creek) and the music by Jamie Blanks (Urban Legend) features Silverchair and Papa Roach.

Phase 4 is planning to make it available in the US in the first quarter of 2010. Crush had a brief theatrical season in Australiaand is being released by Paramount on October 8.

“We are delighted to be in business with Phase 4,” said Odin’s Eye principal Michael Favelle who negotiated the deal with Phase 4’s Larry Greenberg. “They share our passion for Crush and understand the potential the film has to reach a wide mainstream audience. The film could not be in better hands.”
