Bleiberg starts EFM talks on David Ondricek co-pro Horse
Bleiberg Entertainment is handling world sales here on Lucky Man Films’ upcoming film noir In The Shadow Of The Horse that will unite multiple Czech Lion winner Ivan Trojan with German star Sebastian Koch.
David Ondricek, whose Grandhotel screened in Panorama in 2007, will direct from a screenplay he wrote with Marek Epstein and Misha Votruba.
The Prague shoot is set begin on Mar 5 on the 1950s-set mystery about a Czech police officer and a German specialist in Zionist crime who clash while investigating a store robbery, unaware of the larger forces at play.
Ondricek and Krystof Mucha of Czech-based Lucky Man will produce alongside Ehud Bleiberg, as well as Jacek Naglowski and Agnieszka Janowska of Poland’s Centrala and Slovakia’s Patrik Pass of Trigon Production.
“From the outset this was conceived as a big European production that would involve the central European countries of Czech Republic, Poland and Germany, both financially and with regard to the cast and crew,” Mucha said.
“Krystof gave me the script and I could not put it down,” added Bleiberg, whose producer credits include The Band’s Visit and this year’s Oscar shortlisted documentary Precious Life. “It was quite clear that we had to get this film made because it is so gripping and it is unlike anything else out there.”
Trojan’s Czech Lion wins include Vaclav and One Hand Can’t Clap. Koch starred in The Lives Of Others and Black Book and will next be seen opposite Liam Neeson in Unknown which premieres at the Berlinale on Friday.
