Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions announced on Wednesday [8] it has formed Blumhouse International and struck a worldwide distribution and servicing deal with IM Global that kicks off in Cannes with Sinister 2 and Stretch

The parties will officially unveil the venture on the Croisette next week. Blumhouse International will cover films outside Blum’s [pictured] first-look deal with Universal.

Sinister 2 is the follow-up to Blumhouse’s 2012 $3m microbudget hit that went on to gross more than $87m worldwide.

Joe Carnahan will direct and produce alongside Blum the comedy-thriller Stretch, which Screendaily reported exclusively at the AFM last November. Tracy Falco will serve as executive producer.

Both projects will begin production later in 2013.

“We are excited to expand our company’s international presence as the success of our micro-budget films continues to grow across the world,” said Blum.

Blumhouse has four micro-budget wide-release movies scheduled to open including its first film for Universal, The Purge, with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes set to open on Jun 7.

The roster includes Insidious Chapter 2 through FilmDistrict on Sept 13, Paranormal Activity 5 for Paramount on Oct 25 and Jessabelle (previously titled Ghosts) for Lionsgate on Jan 10 2014.
