The National Film Board Of Canada (NFB) has got behind an initiative to launch a new international multiplatform destination for viewing and engaging with auteur documentary creators and subjects.

The subscription service will include new forms of interactive documentary and feature curated bilingual content and eventually branch out to multilingual content. The service will launch in 2014 in North America and Europe.

“As one of the most important world centres for documentary, we have a responsibility to audiences here and around the world, and to the documentary community, to respond to those needs,” said Tom Perlmutter, government film commissioner and chairperson at the NFB.

“Based on our success with NFB.ca, we are taking advantage of our technological infrastructure, our unique expertise in documentary content and our network of international partners to offer this innovative experience for documentary creators and audiences.”
