Cinedigm has acquired all North American rights from TrustNordisk to Easy Money: Hard To Kill and Easy Money: Life Deluxe based on the bestselling books by Jens Lapidus. Separately, FilmBuff has acquired Someone Marry Barry.

The second and third instalments in the Easy Money Stockholm noir trilogy starring Joel Kinnaman that have drawn more than 1.2m Swedish theatre-goers.

Martin Scorsese presented the first episode to US audiences last year and a remake is in development at Warner Bros with Zac Efron attached to star.

Cinedigm has set both films for release in 2014 across all platforms.

Fredrik Wikström Nicastro produced the films for Swedish production company Tre Vänner in co-production with Film i Väst, TV broadcaster SVT, Nordisk Film, Nordsvensk Filmunderhållning, Hobohm Brothers, Fantefilm, Network Movie & ZDF/Arte.

Production support comes from The Swedish Film Institute, The Norwegian Film Institute, Nordic film and TV fund in co-operation with C-more. Nordisk Film is the local distributor.

  • FilmBuff will release the Josephson Entertainment, Madrose Productions, and Straight Up Films rom-com Someone Marry Barry in theatres and on VOD on February 13 2014. Rob Pearlstein directed and Tyler Labine, Damon Wayans Jr and Lucy Punch star in the tale of a plot that goes horribly wrong when childhood friends try to rid of their socially inappropriate friend Barry by finding him a wife. FilmBuff brokered the deal with CAA.
