The contest between distributors of Brazilian film since 2005 will reward the winner with a trip to the Rio Carnival in February 2013.

“Nothing better than bringing the companies that distribute our films to have a closer look into the Brazilian culture”, said Cinema Do Brasil president Andre Sturm.

Apex-Brasil, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, is supporting the initiative.

The second phase of the Distributors World Cup will take place in 2013 with the prize of a ticket to see a game at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The two first companies in the ranking will also receive $30,000 towards distribution costs.
