CNN Films, Cinedigm acquire Our Nixon

Penny Lane directed the documentary that CNN will broadcast in August and Cinedigm will release theatrically.

Our Nixon features previously unseen Super 8 home movie footage filmed from 1969-73 by the 37th President’s closest aides such as chief of staff H R Haldeman, domestic affairs adviser John Ehrlichman and special assistant Dwight Chapin.

“The personal footage reveals a multi-dimensional president and staff who were heartbreakingly earnest, idealistic, and naïve – as well as self-protective, suspicious, and cynical,” said Lane.

“Our goal was to invite viewers to re-examine their prior assumptions about Nixon and come to their own conclusions about what that era means.”

“Our history-focused film acquisitions allow CNN to revisit key national events – and the people who shaped them – with new information and fresh perspectives,” said CNN Worldwide svp for talent and content development Amy Entelis.

“We are pleased to offer viewers very unique films, like Our Nixon – in this case, in the year that would have been Nixon’s centennial.

Submarine brokered the deal with CNN Films and Cinedigm.
