Two films expected to makes waves this awards season have been scheduled for US release on Nov 1.

Focus Features said it was moving Dallas Buyers Club up from Dec 6 to Nov 1 to capitalise on anticipated buzz following next month’s world premiere in Toronto.

The drama will expand throughout the month leading into the Thanksgiving holiday.

Jean-Marc Valleé directs Matthew McConaughey in the story based loosely on the life of Ron Woodroof, who smuggled alternative medicine into the US after he discovered he was HIV positive in the late 1980s.

Meanwhile, eOne Films announced that Diana, its drama about the last two years in the life of the Princess Of Wales, will open in limited release on Nov 1 prior to expansion.

Naomi Watts stars in the iconic role and Oliver Hirschbiegel directs.
