Lionsgate’s Codeblack Films has acquired rights to Free Angela And All Political Prisoners. The documentary about the political activist Angela Davis premiered in Toronto last year.

Through Codeblack Films’ partnership with AMC Theatres, BET Networks will present the film exclusively at AMC sites in select markets on Apr 5.

Drafthouse Films has snapped taken US rights to 2012 Toronto entry I Declare War directed by Jason Lapeyre and Robert Wilson. A VoD and theatrical campaign is planned for the second half of 2013.

  • LA-based Circus Road Films, whose drama Newlyweeds sold to Phase 4 for North American distribution last week following the world premiere in Sundance, has come on to handle sales on Shaun Kosta’s feature debut The Republic Of Two. Janet Montgomery, Stephanie Lemelin, Brent Baily and Brandon Fobbs star in the story about a couple who move in together in California.
