The distributor has acquired North American rights to Kim Ki-Duk’s South Korean Oscar foreign language submission and recent winner of the Venice Golden Lion. IFC Midnight has picked up North American rights to sci-fi thriller Crawlspace.

Pietà follows a mean loanshark who reconsiders his life after he meets a woman claiming to be his mother.

Drafthouse Films plans a limited theatrical and multi-platform VoD roll-out in 2013. Tim League and James Emanuel Shapiro negotiated on behalf of the distributor with Youngjoo Suh of Finecut on behalf of the producers.

  • IFC Midnight brokered the Crawlspace deal with XYZ Films. Director Justin Dix co-wrote the screenplay with Eddie Baroo and Adam Patrick Foster.The film centres on an elite unit sent into an Australian military compound that hides a ghastly secret and will receive its international premiere at Sitges this week. The North American premiere is set for ScreamFest on Oct 18. Arclight Films’ genre label Darclight is handling all international sales in Crawlspace and Greenlight Releasing will distribute theatrically in Australia in early 2013.
  • Kino Lorber’s Horizon Movies label has acquired North American rights to Steve Skrovan’s comedy Fred & Vinnie and will release on DVD, VoD and digital platforms on Dec 18. Kino Lorber vp of sales and distribution Eric D Wilkinson brokered the deal with Noor Ahmed of Reder & Feig on behalf of the producers.
