Django Unchained to open in China

China has approved the release of Django Unchained after authorities make what is expected to be a small cut, marking the first time a Quentin Tarantino film will be released in the territory.

A source with knowledge of the situation said it was likely that a little over one minute of the film would be censored, but declined to elaborate.

Django Unchained will open on Apr 11 and so far has grossed more than $400m worldwide, of which $241m comes from international markets.

Sony Pictures Releasing International handles international distribution while The Weinstein Company released the revenge Western in the US.
