The acquisition comes ahead of its European premiere tonight at the Rome Film Festival.

UK distributor Dogwoof has picked up Sundance grand jury winning documentary How To Die In Oregon.

The US documentary is about euthanasia in the state of Oregon, the first state to legalise doctor-assisted suicide. It won the grand jury documentary prize at Sundance earlier this year and will have its European premiere tonight at the Rome Film Festival.

Dogwoof plans to release the doc in the UK early 2012.

The film’s director Peter Richardson said he was “delighted to be working with Dogwoof to bring How to Die in Oregon to audiences in the UK. “The film tells a powerful human story, and also provides invaluable context as countries around the world begin to grapple with this critical issue.”
