Eclipse poised to cross quarter-billion mark overseas

The vampire tale has grossed $242m through Summit International’s network of buyers. New territories this weekend also include Peru, Ecuador, Honduras and Mongolia.

Warner Bros Pictures International unleashes Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi mystery Inception in the UK and nine other territories.

The first wave of international releases goes out day-and-date with North America and will be followed by 29 markets over July 21-25 including France, Australia, Russia, Japan and South Korea. The third wave occurs over July 28-August 1 and covers 13 markets including Germany.

Toy Story 3 has reached $233.7m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International and opened earlier in the week in France and Hong Kong.

The family adventure The Sorcerer’s Apprentice opens day-and-date with North America in a handful of initial markets this weekend, the biggest of which are Russia, Argentina and Turkey.

Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time stands at $237.2m and the spectacular Alice In Wonderland has amassed $688.9m.

Shrek Forever After is in the midst of a surge and in recent weeks has boosted the international running total to $235.8m through PPI.

The animation arrives in a further ten territories including Mexico on July 16. The Last Airbender on an early $13.5m opens in two including Japan on July 17.

Fox International’s action comedy Knight And Day is now at $40.5m and opens in a further 19 territories, led by Australia, Mexico, Spain and Brazil.

Predators has raced off to a $19.4m start and invades nine new territories, among them France and Italy, while Marmaduke on $18.4m opens in Germany and Austria. Avatar stands at $1.995bn.

Latest figures from UPI put Robin Hood on $203.5m, The Green Zone on $40.9m, and Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang on $57.2m.
