The former Maya Entertainment senior executive announced on Friday (7) the launch of sales, financing and distribution company Premiere Entertainment Group.

Axume, who previously served as president of international distribution at Maya Entertainment, has hired former Spotlight Pictures executive Jack Campbell as svp of sales and acquisitions.

The pair will be in Toronto talking up a new slate that includes Britt Napier’s horror-thriller Darkroom starring Kaylee DeFer and Elisabeth Rohm and Andrew Meieran’s drama Highland Park with Deborah Ann Woll, Parker Posey, Billy Burke and Danny Glover.

Premiere negotiated rights for both films with Kevin Iwashina and Christine D’Souza of Preferred Content on behalf of the producers.

Axume also acquired action film The Outsider from Christine and Mark Holder of Zero Gravity Management. Jason Patrick and James Caan will star and the project is in pre-production.

The slate includes comedy Ass Backwards starring Alicia Silverstone inherited from Maya, as well as the rom-com Save The Date with Lizzy Caplan and Mark Webber, comedy It’s A Disaster with Julia Stiles and another Stiles project, the drama Between Us.

“I’ve always believed that quality films can transcend cultural boundaries and the global market is always looking for quality films and Premiere Entertainment’s main mandate is to provide such content,” Axume said.

Premiere has also struck a partnership with Ryan Noto’s Digital Post Services.
