Independent  Swiss distributor Ascot Elite and Cologne-based Splendid Films have unveiled deals on films acquired at last month’s AFM.

Ascot Elite acquired all-rights for German speaking territories from Hanway for Harry Brown, starring Michael Caine (pictured), and Perrier’s Bounty, a thriller comedy set in England and Ireland and starring Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson and Jim Broadbent.

It has also taken all rights for German-speaking territories (excluding TV) for Walter Hill’s crime thriller St Vincent, starring Mickey Routke and Ray Winstone, from IM Global. The film is due to begin shooting in Montreal next month.

Finally, Ascot has also acquired John Michael McDonald’s thriller The Guard, which is currently shooting in Ireland and also stars Gleeson. It has taken all rights for German-speaking territories from Metropolis Film Sales.

Meanwhile, Splendid Film has acquired the German speaking and Benelux rights to seven new titles at various stages of production.

The titles are: Markus Nispel’s Conan, a $90m remake of the 1982 Arnold  Schwarzenegger classic Conan The Barbarian; the romantic comedy How To Make Love Like An Englishman, starring Pierce Brosnan and Michelle Pfeiffer; the Val Kilmer horror film Mr. Nobody by Michael; Rob Stefaniuk’s vampire horror comedy Suck, with Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop and Malcolm McDowell; video game adaptation Tekken; Marcus Dunstan’s debut film The Collector; and the Asian action film Treasure Hunter with The Green Hornet’s Jay Chou in the main role.

Meanwhile, Bavaria Film International has announced a raft of deals on Urszula Antoniak’s Locarno award-winner Nothing Personal. It has now been sold to 12 territories including Germany (MFA), Spain (Isaan Entertainment), Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay (Primer Plano) and Poland (Vivarto).
