EXCLUSIVE: VOD platform Cinecliq is in Cannes to lock up content deals after launching at Berlin.

The staff behind fledgling VOD Facebook app Cinecliq are in Cannes locking up deals with rights holders and festivals.

The streaming service struck a deal with Russian distributor Central Partnership in Berlin and has a deal with festival Slamdance to show films during their event. Film prices range from $2.90 to $7.90.

Cinecliq is built into Facebook’s environment in the hope that users will share content, thereby acting as a marketing mechanism for distributors. The company is also able to access statistical information about its users through Facebook in order to market them films accordingly.

Cinecliq is headed by CEO Victor Pasilis. Founding Partner and Chief Content Officer Yan Vizinberg of Persona Films was writer-director of 2011 drama Cargo, while Douglas Graham is on board as head of acquisitions.
