The distributor has acquired North American rights to Anthony Chen’s Camera D’Or winner, which last week became the first Singaporean film to win a prize in Cannes.

The family drama screened in Directors’ Fortnight and takes place during the Asian financial crisis.

Ilo Ilo will open day-and-date theatrically in New York and on VoD in the first quarter of 2014, followed by a limited theatrical roll-out. Film Movement brokered the deal with Memento Films International.

Earlier on Wednesday Screendaily reported that Soda Pictures had picked up UK rights.
