The distributor has preemptively acquired US rights to the Low Spark Films and Automatik production, which will star Laurence Fishburne and newcomer Brenton Thwaites. IM Global’s genre arm Octane handles international sales.

FilmDistrict will distribute in the US and eOne in the UK, Canada and Spain. Production is scheduled for May 12 in New Mexico and Ohio on the sci-fi story about freshman lured into a trap by a hacker.

Olivia Cooke, Beau Knapp, Sarah Clarke, Lin Shaye and Robert Longstreet round out the key cast.

Low Spark Films is fully financing and will produce alongside Automatik, which developed the project.

Will Eubank will direct and Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Davidson produce. Low Spark’s Richard Rothfeld, IM Global chief Stuart Ford and Charles Layton will serve as executive producers.
