EXCLUSIVE: Buyers include Artificial Eye for the UK and Palace for Australia.

Mia Hansen-Love’s Goodbye First Love has been a hot seller for Films Distribution early in the market.

With US buyers circling, the film has already sold to the UK (Artificial Eye), Australia (Palace), Switzerland (Frenetic) and Italy (Teodora), company co-founder Nicolas Brigaud-Robert told Screen.

The film begins with a 16-year old girl who believes her first love will last forever and the consequences of that relationship, which, unbeknownst to the heroine, will have a strong impact on her future young adult life. Lola Créton, Sebastian Urzendowsky and Magne Havard Brekke star.

The film is currently in post-production while the healthy pre-sales are a good sign for Brigaud Robert who told Screen that Hansen-Love “is one of, if not the, most promising young director of her generation…It’s not easy to sell small French small art house movies so it’s interesting to see this business is still director-driven. It means the art-house world is not dead and there are people who believe in cinema.”
