UPDATE: Foresight Unlimited has pulled the thriller from its Cannes slate after it emerged on Friday evening [10] that the financiers had not closed their deal for Nicolas Cage.

Foresight issued a statement that read: “We have learned that the deal with Nicolas Cage on Hotel 33 is  not yet closed. We therefore feel it is prudent  to let the parties finalise their negotiations before we move forward with international representation of the film.”

Envision Entertainment and Emmett/Furla Films are co-financing the story about a detective who investigates the disappearance of 32 people on the opening night of the Grand Hotel in 1953, just as two of four teenagers who break into the abandoned building also go missing.

Open Road is on board to distribute in the US. Newcomer Kellie Madison is set to direct from her screenplay.

Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce and Envision Entertainment’s Remington Chase, Stepan Martirosyan and Vitaly Grigoriants serve as executive producers.
