Freestyle Releasing and Cinemarket Films are partnering on the North American release of Andrei Konchalovsky’s interpretation of the classic fairytale.

The November 24 release stars Elle Fanning, Nathan Lane and John Turturro and shot on location in Budapest in Hungary. Fanning stars as a young girl whose dull Viennese Christmas is filled with excitement and adventure when her beloved uncle arrives with an enchanted nutcracker.

Presented by Vnesheconombank, The Nutcracker In 3D was produced by Konchalovsky and Paul Lowin while Moritz Borman served as executive producer. Tim Rice has written eight new songs to complement Piotr Tchaikovsky’s original score.

“Andrei’s inspired vision brings this classic Christmas tale to the screen in a way never before imagined,” Cinemarket Films CEO Peter Graves said. “We are all very proud to present Andrei’s very special fantasy adventure to film going audiences this holiday season.”
