To mark the 30th anniversary of Ivan Reitman’s film Sony will release a restored and remastered 4K version in North America on Labor Day Weekend (August 29).

Ghostbusters, which famously stars Bill Murray, Dan Akyroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and the late Harold Ramis, will screen at more than 700 sites.

“Ghostbusters is still one of our studio’s most beloved franchises – I was lucky enough to work on the release of the film on its first run, so it’s a real thrill for me to see that it’s still connecting with audiences everywhere,” said the studio’s president of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer.

Following the theatrical release the 30th anniversary Blu-ray edition and the 25th anniversary edition of Ghostbusters II will roll out on September 16.
