The Human Rights Watch Film Festival (HRWFF) is teaming up with film distributor Dogwoof’s Pop Up Cinema to highlight social issue documentaries in non-traditional venues around the UK.

The new collaboration means that films previously screened at the Human Rights Watch Film Festivals will now be available through Pop Up Cinema, an initiative created earlier this year by Dogwoof to enable individuals to screen films in their local communities around the UK.

As of now the selected titles are: Luc Côté and Patricio Henríquez’s Four Days Inside Guantámo; Ali Samadi Ahadi’s The Green Wave; Laura Poitras’ The Oath; Rob Lemkin and Thet Sambath’s  Enemies of the People, Julia Bacha’s Budrus, Joe Berlinger’s Crude; Anders Ostergaard’s Burma VJ; and Havana Marking’s Afghan Star.

“This is an exciting development for the festival,” says Andrea Holley, deputy director at Human Rights Watch Film Festival, “Now anyone in the UK can create a mini HRWFF, within their own community, at the click of a button.”
