Gianfranco Rosi’s documentary about a Mexican hitman premiered in Venice last year.

Icarus Films has acquired all North American distribution rights to Gianfranco Rosi’s El Sicario Room 164.

The documentary about the life of a hitman in one of Mexico’s infamous drug cartels is based on an article by award winning US journalist Charles Bowden.

It premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year and recently screened at Film Comment Selects series at the Lincoln Center in New York.

The film is scheduled to open theatrically in the US on December 28.
