The latest domestic deal from Toronto is understood to have closed last week following a tepid festival in terms of horse-trading that was shaped by cautious buyers and the variable quality of acquisition titles.

IFC Films closed the deal with The Gersh Agency and Myriad Pictures, which has been selling international rights on the thriller about a Syrian expatriate who risks returning to his homeland to rescue his missing daughter.

Alexander Siddig, Joshua Jackson and Marisa Tomei star in Inescapable and Daniel Iron and Lance Samuels produced. Christine Vachon of Killer Films, D’Amico and Mark Slone of Alliance Films served as executive producers. Alliance holds Canadian rights.

Ruba Nadda’s film premiered as a gala presentation in Toronto.
