Kevin Costner reunites with his The Upside Of Anger director Mike Binder on the drama alongside Octavia Spencer. IM Global will commence pre-sales in Cannes.

Costner’s Treehouse Productions and Binder’s Sunlight Productions are producing Black And White from a screenplay by Binder.

Production is scheduled to commence this summer in New Orleans on the story of an attorney whose wife is killed in a car crash and becomes embroiled in a custody battle for his biracial granddaughter, whom he has cared for since the death of his daughter during childbirth.

“We’re delighted to come onboard such a powerful, compelling project with the Costner/Binder team that memorably brought us The Upside Of Anger,” said IM Global CEO Stuart Ford.

“I could not be more honoured to work with Kevin Costner and his team on this incredible film,” said executive producer Cassian Elwes. “I know he and Mike are going to create a classic that will be widely seen and loved for many years to come and IM Global is the perfect company to position the film for its international success.”

Elwes represents US rights and brokered the deal on behalf of the producers with Ford and president Jonathan Deckter.
