EXCLUSIVE: Wolf Creek 2 has found a US home after Image Entertainment swooped on rights at the AFM.

Greg Mclean returns to direct the sequel to his 2005 cult horror starring John Jarratt as homicidal bushman Mick Taylor who preys on backpackers in the Australian Outback.

Jarratt is back in the role and stars alongside Shannon Ashlyn, Ryan Corr, and Phillipe Klaus.

Mclean and Aaron Sterns co-wrote the screenplay and produced with Helen Leake and Steve Topic. Wolf Creek 2 is scheduled for a 2014 release.

“We are thrilled to work with Greg Mclean on the follow-up to his superbly-made first feature film,” said Image Entertainment chief acquisitions officer Bill Bromiley.

“Mick Taylor is one of the most sadistic characters I have seen on screen and the sequel does not disappoint. It gets under the skin — we can’t wait to show horror fans.”

Mark Ward, Jess De Leo and Bromiley brokered the deal on behalf of Image parent company RLJ Entertainment with Ben Weiss of Paradigm and Peter Nelson and Joel VanderKloot at Nelson Davis Wetzstein.
