Independent boards For No Good Reason; Sony picks up US rights
Charlie Paul’s documentary about English cartoonist Ralph Steadman features Johnny Depp and will be introduced to buyers at the upcoming EFM.
Independent has picked up international sales rights to Charlie Paul’s directorial debut For No Good Reason.
Paul’s doc about English cartoonist Ralph Steadman, which features Johnny Depp observing Steadman’s working process at his home studio, will be introduced to buyers at the upcoming EFM in Berlin next week. Steadman is best known for his work with Hunter S Thompson on Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Separately, Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all North American rights to the film.

For No Good Reason features music from the likes of Slash, All American Rejects, Jason Mraz, Lynval Golding, Ed Harcourt, James Blake and Crystal Castles. Grammy nominated and two time Ivor Novello winner Sacha Skarbek is the music director.
