The new entity was unveiled at AFM and will focus on digital and home entertainment releases and mount theatrical campaigns for select titles.

Interactor Media was in acquisitions mode at AFM, picking up the Holy Monster production Broken Kingdom starring Rachel Leigh Cook and Daniel Gillies and the thriller Embedded from The Devil’s Ground director Michael Bafaro.

Instinctive principals Darryn Welch and Cole Payne will run day-to-day operations and Jerome Wilhort will head acquisitions

The company will use its community funding platform Film Interactor to support marketing and distribution.

“We felt there was a void in the current distribution landscape that needed to be filled for small to mid-sized independent film fare that most distributors won’t invest in,” Welch said. “With Interactor Media, we will look to acquire 25 to 40 films per year and will work side-by-side with independent filmmakers to help get their projects to audiences around the world using new media platforms and viral marketing strategies as part of a forward-thinking movement.”

Instinctive Film’s Xavier Gens horror title The Divide premiered at SXSW and was subsequently snapped up by Anchor Bay Films. The production slate includes scientific thriller Errors Of The Human Body as well as documentary Between Home and Paris, I’ll Kill You, which is being lined up for a summer 2012 shoot.
