Italian Indie distributor M2 Pictures, which opened in October 2010 is making tracks in the territory, adding high profile Hollywood pictures to their 2012 slate during the Cannes market.

Carmen Danza, head of acquisitions for the company, for which Rudolph Gentile is CEO told Screen Daily they have nabbed Summit’s Emma Watson starring The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. A coming-of-age story, the film will be one of Watson’s first post Harry Potter roles. Logan Lerman also stars.

From Lionsgate, M2 has closed a pre-sales deal for the sexy, thriller comedy-horror Nurse 3D written by David Loughery and directed by Douglas Aarniokoski.

M2 has also picked up Italian rights to Lionsgate’s apocalypse-tinged rom-com, Seeking A Friend For The End Of the World, which pairs Britian’s Keira Knightley and American comic Steve Carrell. The duo play neighbuors that fall in love as the earth faces imminent destruction from an approaching asteroid.

M2 Pictures aims to provide edgy and commercial fare aimed at Italy’s youth market. Some previous acquisitions on their slate include Warrior and Beat The World due out later this year. For 2012, they previously sealed a deal on Step Up 4 3D, also from Summit.
