Lionsgate will release the upcoming comedy LOL starring Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore in the US after funnelling the film from its wholly owned subsidiary Mandate Pictures.

Ashley Greene also stars in the tale from writer-director Lisa Azuelos, an adaptation of the French hit Laughing Out Loud.

Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Double Feature Films and Tish Cyrus produced and Mandate president Nathan Kahane, Azuelos, Romain Le Grand and Jerome Seydoux served as executive producers.

Lionsgate, formerly Mandate International, sold international rights to the story set against the world of Facebook, iTunes and YouTube as a woman butts heads with her teenager daughter after reading her racy journal.
