The distributor has swooped on Lars Von Trier’s vision of the apocalypse here in a seven-figure North American deal with TrustNordisk.

The Danish auteur is shooting now and expects to wrap in spring. Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgard and Udo Kier star in the story of sisters whose lives drift apart as the universe unravels.

John Hurt, Alexander Skarsgard also star. Magnolia svp Tom Quinn and vp of Acquisitions Dori Begley brokered the deal with Peter Aalbæk Jensen and Susan Wendt of TrustNordisk.

“As the 2012 apocalypse is upon us, it is time to prepare for a cinematic last supper,” Quinn said. “It is with great excitement that we embark on this journey with our newly adopted Danish family, the legendary Peter Aalbæk Jensen and the incredible TrustNordisk team.”

“Lars von Trier, my buddy through 23 years, will now be distributed via Magnolia in North America,” executive producer Aalbæk Jensen said. “As in all first-time love affairs, this is a thrilling trip that started with an exhausting negotiation through a cold and dark German night.”
