Albert Maysles’ documentary chronicles the life of 93-year-old fashionista Iris Apfel and will open theatrically in 2015. Separately, Lionsgate has set an October 2015 release for The Last Witch Hunter.

Iris premiered at the New York Film Festival and took home the audience award from the Hamptons Film Festival shortly thereafter.

Laura Coxson, Rebekah Maysles and Jennifer Ash Rudick produced.

“Iris is an exceptionally charming and moving film about a life well-lived,” said Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles. “I was completely taken by Iris Apfel watching it, and I’m confident audiences will fall for her too. It’s an honour to be working with the legend Albert Maysles.”

Dori Begley and John Von Thaden negotiated the deal for Magnolia with Josh Braun of Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers.

  • Lionsgate has a set an October 23, 2015, wide US release for Summit’s supernatural action film The Last Witch Hunter starring Vin Diesel, Elijah Wood, Rose Leslie and Michael Caine.
