First feature to be shot entirely in Saudi Arabia.

The Match Factory has sold French rights to Venice Orizzonti Competition title Wadjda to Pretty Pictures. The deal was negotiated between Pretty Pictures president James Velaise and Brigitte Suárez of The Match Factory.

Haifaa Al Mansour’s film is the first feature to ever be shot entirely in Saudi Arabia. The story is about a girl from a traditional family who fights for her dreams.

“We are happy to partner again with Pretty Pictures, who have a brilliant eye for very unique topics,” said Brigitte Suárez of The Match Factory.

“The Match Factory have great taste and how could we not be involved with the first ever film shot in Saudi Arabia?” added James Velaise of Pretty Pictures.

Razor Film’s Roman Paul and Gerhard Meixner produced.
