Maya Entertainment Group has acquired foreign rights to Between Us and added the Bugeater Films drama, which stars Julia Stiles, Melissa George, Taye Diggs and David Harbour, to its Berlin sales slate.

Currently in post-production, the film is based on the hit off-Broadway play of the same name and was written by Dan Mirvish and playwright Joe Hortua. Mirvish also directed and, along with Hans C Ritter and Mike S Ryan, produced. Brent Stiefel is executive producer and cinematographer is Nancy Schreiber.

The film explores the bittersweet friendships between two couples who meet as old friends.

“Dan has adapted the play into a truly cinematic experience,” said Elias Axume, president, international distribution for Maya. “That, coupled with an all-star cast, is sure to bring us success at this year’s market.”

The deal was negotiated by Axume and Maya’s director of acquisitions Tonantzin Esparza with ICM, which packaged the film and continues to represent North American rights.
