MK2 has sold Henri-Georges Clouzot’s Inferno to several territories including the US, UK and Canada
Flicker Alley has acquired US distribution rights to MK2 title Henri-Georges Clouzot’s Inferno. The Serge Bromberg and Ruxandra Medrea documentary/narrative has also gone to the UK (Park Circus), Canada (Filmswelike), Benelux (ABC Distribution), Poland (Against Gravity), Switzerland (Praesens), Austria (Stadtkino), Brazil (TAG) and Israel (Orlando).
The film had its premiere out of competition in Cannes last year and recently picked up a Cesar Award in France. It looks back to 1964 when Clouzot chose Romy Schneider and Serge Reggiani to star in Inferno.
Reggiani was to play Marcel Prieur, the manager of a modest hotel in provincial France who becomes possessed by jealousy. But Clouzot’s own anxiety, fueled by insomnia and other production upheavals, put a sudden end to an already-troubled production.
Bromberg and Medrea reconstruct Clouzot’s original vision, filling the gaps with interviews, re-enactments and Clouzot’s own notes and storyboards.
The Flicker Alley deal was brokered by Jeff Masino of Flicker Alley and Matthieu Giblin of MK2.
