Nesim Hason’s fledgling US distributor New Films Cinema has struck a 10-film production deal with investment partner Jak Kamhi.

Hason aims to make five films in the next three years and has lined up three titles in development that he will announce shortly.

Last year New Films Cinema, a subsidiary of New Films International, launched as a domestic distributor with Chain Letter starring Nikki Reed and DeadAwake with Rose McGowan. BurningPalms with Zoe Saldana opened last month.

The company’s next US release, Flying Lessons starring Maggie Grace, will open this autumn followed by SavingGrace B Jones with Tatum O’Neal later in the year.

“Indie film has become the puppet of the big boys,” Hason said. “With our uniquely healthy balance sheet and deep international foreign distribution lines we plan to become the new normal in independent film.”

“These films will be of the highest production quality with strong stories and A-list cast and will span both lifestyle and genre categories,” Kamhi added.
